Woman airlifted after accidentally stepping on snake in Sydney
A woman has been airlifted to hospital after she was bitten by a snake in Sydney's north.
The woman in her 30s was walking near bushland at Great Mackeral Beach in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park at about 10.20am today when she accidentally stepped on the snake.
It then bit her on the leg.

NSW Ambulance Northern Sydney Inspector Mark Whittaker said they were told the bite came from a brown snake, prompting them to fly to the remote site in a helicopter.
When they reached the injured woman, however, she was unable to confirm the type of snake.
"We did find puncture wounds to her leg. Responding crews treated that patient with a pressure immobilisation bandage," Whittaker said.
There were no signs venom had entered the woman's system and she was flown to Northern Beaches Hospital in stable condition.
The woman is expected to be released later this evening.

Australians are urged to be aware of snake season and to change directions if one is spotted.
"During the summer period, snakes are active. Anyone who's walking around bushland, I would take extra care, wear shoes," Whittaker said.
"(If you are bitten) the first thing to do is stay still, stay calm, call triple zero.
"While we're responding, it's important that you do not cut the bite, do not try to suck the venom out of the bite and try not to run around. Remain calm and remain immobile."
