Ten children involved in Sydney's major M4 crash, all escape serious injury

Ten school children were involved in a major crash, involving eight cars and a truck, on Sydney's busy M4 motorway yesterday.

All lanes reopened just before 10pm, after 21 people were assessed by paramedics and a man was freed after spending more than an hour trapped in his van in Prospect at the Light Horse interchange.

The school children were all travelling in a Hiace van when they were involved in the crash.

Luckily, everyone escaped serious injury but two people were taken to Westmead Hospital and the man freed from the van was taken to Liverpool Hospital.

NSW Police said the driver of the truck, a 46-year-old man, was taken to Blacktown Hospital for mandatory testing.

The crash happened at 4.30pm, just as many started heading home on their evening commutes, with more than 11km of traffic at a standstill.
