Sydney stabbing accused only given Panadol in jail, court hears
The man charged over last week's stabbing rampage in Sydney is struggling in jail because he has not received proper medication, a court has heard.
Twenty-year-old Mert Ney sat with his head bowed as he fidgeted with his handcuffs for the duration of his 15-minute hearing today.

His lawyer, Zemarai Khatiz, told the court his client had repeatedly asked for his medication to help treat his mental health problems. But so far he has received only Panadol.
Outside the court, his lawyer says he was struggling in jail as he can't sleep and was suffering "insomnia".

Ney has indicated he will be pleading not guilty to various charges including murder, on the grounds of mental health.
Last week Ney allegedly stabbed to death Michaela Dunn and wounded another woman, after a rampage through the city.
He was refused bail and will back in court in October.
