Man charged after alleged brawl on busy Sydney road

A man has been charged after an ugly brawl in Sydney’s west, where a group of men allegedly began punching and kicking kicking one another in front of stopped traffic.

The shocking altercation broke out near an intersection on Centenary Drive in Merrylands about 5pm on Tuesday.

Video obtained by 9NEWS shows two men approaching a stopped car and shouting at one another before the driver exits his vehicle and the men allegedly begin laying punches.

"After receiving video footage of the incident, officers attached to Holroyd Local Area Command commenced inquiries," police said in a statement.

"Following investigations, the driver of the Audi, a 22-year-old man, presented himself at Merrylands Police Station at 5pm yesterday.

"He was charged with affray, use offensive instrument with intent, intimidation, negligent driving and owner not disclose identity of driver/passenger."

The man was granted bail and is expected to appear in court next month.

The two occupants of the Hyundai were also interviewed by police and released pending further inquiries.

The brawl was the second road rage incident to occur in NSW this week, after a woman was allegedly punched in the face in another encounter near Lake Macquarie.
