Sydney retail centres are investing millions of dollars in a bid to fight the growing popularity of online shopping, and Westfield Hurstville is one of the first outlets to reveal a major makeover.

Ten months and $105 million in the making, the revamp is now complete.

Inside there is a brand new Woolworths, Big-W, Rebel and JB-HI-FI Home. There’s also play areas for kids, brand new cinemas and a youth mall.

“When you listen to the customer and you listen to the community, you're making sure that the centre caters to the community,” centre manager Linda Hurst said.

Nationwide, billions of dollars are being spent in a bid to lure consumers back to shopping centres.
