Sydney primary school teacher to fight students' claims of assault

A primary school teacher from Sydney’s south-west will fight allegations she pinched, punched, slapped and spat at young students.

The 57-year-old Yagoona woman has been banned from her full-time teaching role at Bass Hill Primary School pending the outcome of court proceedings.

Covering her head with a purple scarf in an attempt to avoid 9News cameras, the woman faced Bankstown Court where a suppression order was granted not allowing media outlets to broadcast her name.

Facing six charges of common assault against four pupils of the school - all aged under 10 - she refused to answer questions after earlier entering not guilty pleas to the offences which police allege occurred between April 30 and May 18, 2018.

Bail conditions demand she not intimidate, stalk, assault, molest, harass, threaten or interfere with the alleged victims or their families and that she stays away from Bass Hill Primary School grounds.

The teacher will return to court on August 8.
