Sydney pharmacist admits to poisoning female colleague 23 times after she rejected him

A Sydney pharmacist has admitted to poisoning his co-worker 23 times in the past year after she rejected his sexual advances.

Anthony Cheung, who also goes by the first name Yan Chi, used five different drugs to poison his female colleague, including antihistamines, anti-psychotic drugs and antidepressants.

The victim, an assistant at the University of New South Wales campus pharmacy, reported feeling sick and falling asleep at work in May 2015.

CCTV footage caught Cheung spiking her drinks, including glasses of water and instant coffee powder.

Cheung, who is married, told detectives he was in love with the victim, and said he poisoned her to make her feel sick as punishment for her rejection of him.

The victim said the episodes began after she confronted Cheung when he touched her breasts and bottom.

The 34-year-old was sentenced to a minimum 10 months jail at Waverly Local Court this afternoon.

On appeal he was granted conditional bail.
