Two men assaulted during violent Western Sydney home invasion
Two men have been injured during a violent home invasion in Sydney’s west overnight.
About 7.30pm, a man was at his unit on Newman Street, Merrylands when he received a call from someone he believed wanted to purchase his mobile phone.
The 30-year-old left his unit to meet the man when he saw three males waiting outside. Concerned, he went back inside and gave his phone to a 29-year-old flatmate before leaving the unit.

A short time later, the 29-year-old went out the front and was confronted by the three men.
The men forced their way into the unit and assaulted the 29-year-old man and another 20-year-old occupant who was assaulted with a large spoon they took from the kitchen.
The three offenders fled the scene after stealing the phone, another phone and a laptop.
The two victims then attended Merrylands Police Station to report the crime.
The 20-year-old victim was taken to Westmead Hospital with a concussion and a crime scene has been established at the unit.
The three offenders are described as African in appearance.
