Two men allegedly assaulted in Sydney CBD 'road rage' incident

A man has been charged with assault after two men were allegedly injured in what police describe as a "road rage" incident in Sydney's CBD yesterday.

The driver of a white Toyota Camry allegedly kicked the driver-side door of a taxi on Liverpool Street at about 7.50pm.

The driver of the taxi, a man aged 57, got out of his vehicle when the Camry driver, a man aged 31, allegedly punched him several times around the head.

Police said a second man, aged 22, attempted to intervene and was also allegedly assaulted by the 31-year-old man.

The 31-year-old returned to his car and removed a piece of timber from the boot before allegedly threatening the two men.

Police said he was restrained by members of the public and arrested by officers.

The 31-year-old was charged with destroy or damage property, two counts of common assault, use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence, and possess prohibited drug.

The Punchbowl man was refused bail and appeared in Parramatta Local Court today.
