Woman has face smashed with hammer outside western Sydney home

Police are investigating after a woman was smashed in the face in a brutal attack at her western Sydney home.

Mother-of-two Amy Vaughn said she was left a bloody mess after the assault outside her home in St Clair by a group of young people.

She will undergo surgery to fix her fractured nose and cheek.

Police are speaking to the some of the people believed to be involved.
