Wanted man allegedly threatens police with nail gun while attempting to barricade himself in Sydney home
A man police say was wanted over shoplifting, stalking and assault charges has allegedly threatened officers with a nail gun as he attempted to barricade himself in his home in Sydney's west.
Mahmoud Khatib, 40, allegedly expressed a desire to burn his own house down during NSW Police negotiations, which started about 4pm on Brussels Street in South Granville yesterday.
Officers were allegedly threatened with the nail gun when they entered the house to execute a search warrant.

His mother, Noura Khatib, was stabbed to death inside the family's home in 2018.
His sister was found not guilty of murder on the grounds of mental health.
A resident told 9News Mr Khatib had struggled since the death of his mother.
"He experienced something that nobody should experience and he hasn't been the same ever since," the resident said.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
"With assistance from specialist officers and the dog unit, police were able to gain entry to the residence where they arrested the 40-year-old man," NSW Police said in a statement.
"He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a stable condition."
