A man shot overnight in Sydney’s South West has been identified as the brother of a murdered gangland figure.

Hamad Assaad was a key suspect in the earlier shooting of underworld figure Walid Ahmad, who was killed on the rooftop car park of Bankstown Central shopping centre.

At the time, police said Hamad Assaad was known to both the Middle Eastern Organised Crime squads and the organised crime squads within the NSW police.

The latest shooting is believed to have happened at Dalton Avenue, Condell Park

Police set up a crime scene at a home in the street, and are investigating.
