Sydney fortune teller accused of sexually assaulting teen
A self-proclaimed fortune teller working from an astrology centre in Liverpool has been charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl.
Arjun Maniyappa, 31, is accused of luring a 14-year-old girl into the astrology centre on the promise of telling her fortune, before he allegedly sexually assaulted her on Sunday.
Police were called to the business immediately but Maniyappa was not arrested because the alleged victim had not been spoken to.
He was arrested by police yesterday at Sydney Airport as he tried to board a flight to Singapore.
The Indian national needed a Tamil interpreter when he appeared in Central Court today but he did not make a bail application.
He is expected to apply for bail when he fronts Liverpool Court tomorrow.
