Sydney man to fight child pornography charges over ‘childlike sex doll’

A Sydney man will fight an additional child pornography charge after police allegedly found a childlike sex doll in his home along with more than 8000 explicit images.

The Australian Federal Police raided the man’s home in July 2013 and found the mannequin in his bed dressed in a satin dressing gown, News Corp reports.

The 32-year-old man, an IT worker, will contest one of the charges, arguing the doll does not fit the legal definition of child abuse material, potentially forcing an amendment to child pornography laws.

The sex doll in question is reportedly 132cm tall and weighs about 30kg, and is described as being in the shape of a girl “approximately 12 to 14 years of age”.

Regarding the mannequin, the accused man said he “played dress up, then put it in my bed [and used] it as a hug pillow when I sleep”.

He had ordered it from a Narrabeen-run arm of a Chinese website, which has since removed the silicone dolls from its catalogue.

The package was labelled as a “movie prop” and intercepted by police.

The owner of the website was also charged with possessing child abuse material.
