"Quite a disgusting behaviour that we've seen from these people that have taken it onto themselves to undertake a shooting on a popular gym with a creche attached to it," Superintendent Eggington said.

In nearby Blacktown a burnt-out Mazda was found and is being investigated as to whether it was being driven by the shooters.

NSW Police say they are investigating if the shooting is connected to a similar incident in Condell Park.
