Man charged with ‘upskirting’ in Sydney CBD

A man has been charged over alleged ‘up-skirting’ offences in Sydney’s CBD yesterday.

Police were called to a shopping centre on Pitt Street about 5.30pm, after security detained a man who had allegedly been seen earlier using a shopping bag fitted with a camera to film up the skirts of females.

Officers from Sydney City Command arrested the 27-year-old suspect.

They seized the man’s mobile phone and found over 2000 photographs and videos allegedly depicting women who were filmed without consent at numerous shopping centres and train stations across Sydney.

The man was taken to Day Street Police Station.

As part of their inquiries, officers attended a home in south Sydney and seized personal computers.

The Mortdale man was charged with two counts of filming a person’s private parts without consent.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on July 11.

It comes after another man was caught filming up the skirts of women on Sydney trains last month.

Inquiries into the current incident continue and police urge anyone with information to come forward.
