A man has allegedly been assaulted with a metal pole during a home invasion in Sydney’s southwest last night.

Police were called to reports of an assault at a home on Gould Road, Claymore, about 7.45pm.

Investigators believe a 34-year-old man had threatened a 33-year-old man in the street, resulting in the younger man returning to his Gould Road home.

The older man then allegedly forced entry into the home, accompanied by two men and a woman.

An altercation is alleged to have then broken out between the 34-year-old man and a 41-year-old occupant of the home, and a second man then allegedly assaulted the 41-year-old man with a metal pole.

The three men and the woman then left the home and were last seen walking on Gould Road.

Paramedics treated the 41-year-old man at the scene and he was then taken to Campbelltown Hospital for further treatment.

A crime scene has been established and police inquiries are ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
