Popular Sydney beach closed for two weeks after asbestos discovery
A beach in Sydney's eastern suburbs will be closed for up to two weeks after an "ongoing" asbestos contamination.
Little Bay Beach will undergo a detailed site inspection to investigate the source of the contamination, Randwick Council has confirmed.
Asbestos was first discovered on the beach in August 2020.

"Since this time, Randwick Council has been regularly inspecting and removing material from the beach and surrounding rocks," the council said on its website.
More than 1000 pieces of mostly fibrous cement sheeting have been found indicating an ongoing source of contamination, potentially from nearby creek gullies where old building material may have been buried.
The inspection is due to begin from Monday, April 26 and the beach will reopen temporarily to the public over the weekend.
The work will involve digging 45 test pits to extract soil samples.
