Nine people arrested in syndicate-busting drug raids across Sydney

Over 100 police have raided seven properties across Sydney, busting a drug syndicate operating at licenced premises and music festivals around the city.

Officers from Strike Force Hiddennite searched seven properties in Leumeah, Cabramatta, Campsie, Berala, Fairfield, Oakville and Macquarie Park and arrested nine people today.

NSW Police uncovered MDMA, LSD, ketamine, cocaine and some reptiles, Detective Chief Inspector Steve Patton confirmed in a press conference this afternoon.

"We'll be alleging that people were supplying to various licenced premises and music festivals across Sydney," he said.

"We've identified the manager of the syndicate and we've identified his upline supplier, we'll be alleging, and we've basically taken out this entire syndicate this morning."

Surry Hills Region Enforcement Squad (RES) established the Strike Force in July 2019 to investigate and target the supply of prohibited drugs.

Investigators were assisted throughout the operation by officers from all Metropolitan RES units – Bass Hill, Gordon, Penrith, Redfern and Wetherill Park – as well as Fairfield and Campsie Police Area Commands, Newcastle City Police District, Operation ODIN and the Dog Unit.

Nine people, six men and three women, have been arrested and taken to local police stations.
