Boats worth nearly $2 million destroyed by fire in Sydney

Three boats worth nearly $2 million combined have been destroyed by fire in Sydney's Northern Beaches.

Video obtained by 9News shows a fire breaking out on one of the boats and it spreading to two others at the marina on McCarrs Point Road in Church Point about 5am.

One boat was worth about $1 million with the other two were worth about $300,000 each.

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said the boats were carrying about 1000 litres of fuel.

"Six FRNSW trucks and 22 firefighters arrived at the scene and crews managed to prevent the fire spreading to at least 20 other vessels," Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said in a statement.

"There was no one on board the burning vessels and no reports of injuries.

"The boats were pushed to the shoreline to allow better access to the flames and minimise environmental damage."

The Environment Protection Agency is working to contain the leaking fuel, oil and other contaminants.
