Sword-wielding robber holds up Gold Coast supermarket

A masked thief wielded a large sword while stealing money from a Coomera supermarket yesterday.

The male offender was shown entering the Rose Valley Drive store and abruptly using weapon to threaten the worker at the counter.

“Go go…Hurry up…all of it…go!,” he yelled.

Remaining calm as he cleared out the till, the 24-year-old staffer handed over the money to the thief.

The robber bolted from the store with a blue shopping bag, momentarily dropping his weapon.

He was then shown on CCTV running to a white Holden Commodore and speeding off from the scene.

Detectives said the car was driven by an unknown accomplice.

Investigations into the robbery are ongoing.
