Alleged NSW parent killer needs protection in custody, lawyer says
The lawyer for a Sydney man charged with murdering his elderly parents says he is vulnerable and need of help whilst in custody

His right arm was heavily bandaged after receiving treatment in hospital for self-inflicted wounds.
He was arrested last Tuesday after police discovered the bodies of his parents Graham and Dianna Reid in their Sutherland home.
David Reid, 46, appeared via video link at Sutherland Local Court on Monday, charged with murdering his 71-year-old mother Dianna Reid and father Victor Graham Reid Nine
They had been stabbed and bashed to death.
Reid's barrister James Glissan said his client needed further medical treatment and requested his placed in protective custody.
Outside the court, Mr Glissan said, Reid was extremely "vulnerable and in need of as much help as he can get".

He insisted his client should be given protection because jails are a "dangerous place".
The barrister said his client was frightened, apprehensive and in desperate "need to be assessed."
Reid was formally refused bail and his case was adjourned until October 14.
