Police operation concludes in Redfern after suspicious package was discovered
Streets in the inner-Sydney suburb of Redfern have reopened after a suspicious package was discovered earlier.
A heavy police presence converged on the area near Cleveland Street and Chalmers Street this afternoon.
The operation has since concluded and the object, believed to be an empty cardboard box, has been deemed safe.

A section of Cleveland Street was closed between Pitt Street and Elizabeth Street, and Chalmers Street was closed between Redfern Street and Central Station.
Traffic was briefly heavy in the area but is easing now that the closures have been lifted.
Buses have returned to their normal routes.
