Police have removed a suspicious package from the Indonesian embassy in Canberra and its contents will be determined by pathology tests.

The embassy received a letter containing an unknown substance on Monday morning.

Authorities sent a Hazmat truck, four fire tankers and several police cars to the embassy in Yarralumla and cordoned off the nearby area.
