Arson attack suspected after Sydney home fire

Police are treating a home fire in Sydney's inner west overnight as suspicious.

Officers responded to reports of a fire at a home on Francis Street, Strathfield, at about 11.30pm yesterday.

After arriving, they were told the occupant extinguished the blaze which caused minor damage to a balcony.

A crime scene was set up and police launched an investigation into the fire which is regarded as suspicious.
