Suspected gunman holed up on Gold Coast

A man who police believe might be armed is holed up in a Gold Coast home, which has been surrounded by officers.

A police spokeswoman says the Upper Coomera home was surrounded on Wednesday afternoon following reports a woman had been assaulted at the property.

No one else is believed to be inside the home.

Residents within 250m of the house have been told to stay indoors.

Officers were reportedly alerted to the man after a woman ran from the house to a nearby childcare centre where she told staff she had been abducted.

The woman is assisting police with enquiries.
