Suspected drunk driver rear-ends police car

A suspected drunk driver has crashed into a police car stopped on the side of a road in suburban Melbourne.

Officers had pulled over another driver in Meadow Heights on Saturday night when the 60-year-old man drove into the back of their car.

"Both officers were outside the police vehicle with the red and blue lights operating," Victoria Police said.

The 60-year-old was unable to sufficiently blow into a roadside breath testing device.

He was taken to a police station to provide a blood sample, and is facing charges including careless driving pending the outcome of the blood test.
