Surrogacy agent claims Gammy’s Australian parents wanted to bring him home

The agent who arranged baby Gammy’s surrogacy has claimed his West Australian parents wanted to take him back to Australia.

The woman, who has not been identified, said the Thai mother had a change of heart and wanted to keep Gammy if she was paid extra money.

It comes as officers with the state’s child protection department called on the biological parents, Wendy and David Farnell, to assess Mr Farnell’s suitability as a parent after it was revealed he was a repeat sex offender.

The officers have had no luck contacting the couple, and it’s believed they have moved to a new address with Gammy’s twin sister.

“I would expect the state police and the state law authorities to do whatever is appropriate in the circumstances,” Prime Minister Tony Abbott said.

The RSPCA also took away the Farnell’s dog which had been left alone for nearly two days.

Gammy's surrogate mother claimed he was abandoned by the Farnell’s when they discovered he had Down syndrome.

The confusion over differing versions of the story hasn't been helped by the Farnell's refusal to issue a clear statement.

9NEWS Perth reporter Jerrie Demasi met with the couple before they left the family home and said she couldn’t “get a straight story” from them.

The Farnell’s married in 2004 after meeting on a match-making website.

If they don't contact child protection officers soon, police may be brought in to find them.
