Surfer's board left with big dent after shark attack on Sydney beach
A Sydney surfer's board has been left with teeth marks and a big dent after a shark attack this morning.
The surfer was swimming at Maroubra Beach in the city's east when the shark appeared and bit his board about 7.50am.
Photos show the surfboard with a sizeable dent and apparently scratched by the shark's teeth following the close call, which luckily the surfer escaped from unharmed.

"A close encounter with a shark this morning at 7.50am for this surfer at Maroubra Beach," Randwick City Council said in a statement.
"Thankfully nobody was injured.
"Lifeguards cleared the water following the incident."
The close call comes just weeks after diving instructor Simon Nellist was killed in Sydney's first fatal shark attack in nearly six decades.

Maroubra Beach remains closed today due to dangerous surf conditions as a result of wild weather in Sydney.
The council said enquiries were ongoing.
