Australians with a terminal illness will find it easier to access their superannuation from July.

A new regulation will let them access their superannuation early if medical advice shows they have 24 months to live - up from 12 months now.

The change would make it easier for women with a secondary breast cancer diagnosis in particular, Assistant Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said on Thursday.
