Man Tasered after 'running from scene of car crash' on Sunshine Coast
A police officer on the Sunshine Coast was forced to use his Taser when a man allegedly on drugs attempted to run from the scene of a car crash.
The man had to be restrained after surviving the crash that left his car a mangled wreck.
Senior Constable Pierre Senekal was first on the scene. It wasn't long before he tracked the alleged drug driver down near Kenilworth's main street.
Police were forced to use a Taser several times as well as capsicum spray to subdue him.
"He's quite lucky, and thank goodness there were no road users involved," he said.
"The man failed to comply and attempted to assault police and they had to taser the defendant to arrest him."
The man was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment.
