Stunning footage has re-emerged showing what a sunset looks like from Mars.

NASA's video 'I'm Dreaming of a Blue Sunset' shows the time-lapse images that were captured in 2012 by the agency's Mars Opportunity rover.

The remarkable footage is back in the spotlight after NASA re-posted a short segment on its Vine channel this week.

The spectacle is created by the scattering of fine dust particles and blue light in the martian atmosphere.
