Suns star fined for unregistered driving

Gold Coast AFL player Harley Bennell has been fined for driving an unregistered car.

Bennell, 21, faced Southport Magistrates Court on Monday charged with driving an unregistered vehicle and not displaying P-plates.

The midfielder, who is recovering from a calf injury and is yet to play for the Suns in this year's AFL campaign, was pulled over by police last week while driving his flatmate's car back from training.

In a short statement, the AFL club confirmed Bennell had been fined $860 and no conviction was recorded.

Bennell has also avoided a disqualification period on his licence.
