Sultry selfies threatens to derail hit kids' show

A popular US children's television show is under threat after a sultry selfie scandal involving one of the stars who is also rumoured to be feuding with another actress on set.

Production on Nickelodeon show Sam and Cat has halted and its future hangs in the balance according to the New York Daily News.

Saucy shots of 21-year-old Jenette McCurdy were leaked online last month and sources have told the newspaper she is also fighting with her co-star Ariana Grande, 20, and others at the kids' network.

The rift boiled over last weekend when McCurdy boycotted the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards and blamed the network.

"It has to do with how Nickelodeon treated me, that's all," McCurdy tweeted to her 5.1 million Twitter followers.

Sam and Cat won favourite show at the awards while Grande beat McCurdy to take out Favourite Actress.

The show features the pair, who each has previously starred in their own shows, as roommates who run a babysitting service.

The selfie photos appeared online just days after McCurdy had labelled romantic interest Andre Drummond, an NBA player for the Detroit Pistons, as a bad kisser.

McCurdy tweeted that she sent the raunchy photos to just one person and was distraught they had gone public, while Drummond has denied leaking them.

A Nickelodeon official said the photos had nothing to do with the alleged rift between the network and McCurdy, and they have "the utmost respect for her".

Another statement said the long 40-episode production of the show is wrapping up "and everyone is understandably tired.

The show is yet to be renewed for season two.
