A high school student has been bashed with a metal pole during a brawl involving four youths at a western Sydney school, police say.

An 18-year-old allegedly struck two teenage boys, aged 16 and 17, after an argument broke out inside a building at a Cabramatta High School on Monday afternoon.

"The third teenager allegedly then punched and kneed the man, before other students stopped the fight," police said.

An 18, 17 and 16-year-old were taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment.

The other teen, also 17, didn't require a trip to hospital.

The 17 and 16-year-olds have been released.

Charges of affray have been laid against the youngest brawlers.

Further charges are expected, police said.
