Man charged after student found dying in Perth stairwell

A Pakistani national from the United States is fighting for life after she was found unconscious in the stairwell of an apartment block in Perth's city centre.

The student, in her 30s, was found on Murray Street about 2am on Saturday and was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.

Police executed a search warrant on Dundas Road in Inglewood, where a 27-year-old man was arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm.

The injured woman's family, who live overseas, are travelling to Perth.
