Armed man on the run after shots fired near Melbourne’s Crown Casino
Several streets were locked down this morning around Melbourne's Crown Casino when an armed man fired several shots at another man after an argument.
Police Senior Sergeant Steve Bills said the man fired four shots with a handgun on Power Street about 4.15am.
“It appears the shots didn’t hit the victim and we haven’t had any contact with the victim. We’d encourage him to contact police,” he said.
Both the victim and the offender ran off in opposite directions along Queens Bridge Street in Southbank.
Snr Sgt Bills said police have spoken to one witness and are canvassing the area for CCTV.
He said authorities believe the two men knew each other in what appeared to be a targeted attack.
“It doesn’t appear to be a random shooting,” Snr Sgt Bills said.
Witnesses reported hearing an argument shortly before the shots rang out.
Power Street is expected to remain closed off between City Road and Queens Bridge Street for most of the morning.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
