A professional driver has been accused of causing the death of a father-of-two, who was just metres away from his son’s school in Sydney inner-west.

Jason Wylie, 40, was allegedly speeding on the Hume Highway in South Strathfield yesterday when he lost control of his black Holden Commodore.

The vehicle then mounted the curb hitting the 55-year-old who died at the scene.

It is believed the victim was on his way to watch his son receive an award at school when the crash happened.

Footage captured at the scene shows shocked onlookers attempting to revive the man lying on the ground.

In court today, the magistrate said Mr Wylie was not a threat to the community and granted him bail.

The victim’s family wept as they left court, too upset to speak.

The case will return to court in September.
