Stranded sheep rescued after six months in Melbourne reservoir
A meticulous rescue operation has resulted in the safe capture of an adventurous sheep who was lost in a Melbourne reservoir for more than six months.
After weeks of planning, Sugar the sheep was safely captured by an expert team of volunteers in Sugarloaf Reservoir in Melbourne's north-east.
The safe recovery of the stranded animal was led by Melbourne Water's water supply operator Georgia Duncan and assisted by volunteers from Vets for Compassion and Forever Friends Animal Rescue Sanctuary.

"Recognising the importance of ensuring the safety of all animals and preserving wildlife in the community, the team of volunteers promptly sprang into action to rescue the stranded sheep," Duncan said.
After undergoing a much-needed shearing and vet examination, Sugar is enjoying her temporary home at Forever Friends Animal Sanctuary in the Yarra Ranges.
Sanctuary manager Lachlan Barnard said Sugar's rescue showed Forever Friends' commitment to animal wellbeing.
Vets for Compassion's Operations Manager Nicole De Haan said the successful capture "serves as a reminder of the importance of community involvement in safeguarding and protecting animals in need".
Sugarloaf Reservoir is operated by Melbourne Water.
