Stop ex-MPs lobbying for 3 years: GetUp

An activist group wants federal politicians prevented from lobbying for three years after leaving parliament.

GetUp! is submitting a six-point wish-list on political donations reform to a parliamentary committee.

The committee on electoral matters is looking at the federal election and the impact of donations and contributions from foreign sources.

The group also wants an independent federal corruption watchdog, caps on election campaign spending and a $1000 limit on corporate donations.

They want any donation above $500 to be publicly disclosed on the web in real-time, and foreign donations from sources not registered in Australia or who don't have Australian citizenship stopped.
