Australian trading platform Stake caught in data breach
Australian-based trading and investment platform Stake has been caught in a data breach after a third-party partner company was hacked.
In an email to customers about midday on Friday, Stake said personal information such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, tax status and tax country were compromised.

No trading accounts or portfolios, tax file numbers or bank accounts had been impacted and no unauthorised trading, transfers or withdrawals occurred.
It comes after DriveWealth, Stake’s partner that supports US trading and wallet functionality, suffered a data security breach.
Stake apologised to customers and said it is working to understand the extent of the incident.
“We are sincerely sorry for any concern this news has caused and apologise for any inconvenience caused as a result of the incident,” the company said.
“Stake takes the security of personal information seriously and has been working closely with DriveWealth to understand the impact of the incident.”
Stake was founded in Sydney in 2017 to help Australians connect to Wall Street.
Co-founded by chief executive Matt Leibowitz, it has expanded into New Zealand and the United Kingdom and grown to over $6 billion in assets.
It now has about 500,000 customers worldwide.
