Staff member tests positive to coronavirus at Woolworths QV in Melbourne's CBD

A Woolworths supermarket in Melbourne's CBD has undergone additional deep cleaning after a staff member tested positive to COVID-19.

The employee last worked at Woolworths QV at the corner of Lonsdale Street and Swanston Street on October 6 and 7.

Woolworths was made aware of the positive infection yesterday.

"We have been notified by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) that a team member in our QV store (corner of Lonsdale St and Swanston St) has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19)," a Woolworths spokesperson said in a statement.

"We're making contact with our QV store team members and will provide our full support to those self-isolating in line with the advice from the DHHS."

The store reopened this morning after being deep cleaned last night.

The infected staff member remains in self-isolation.

"Customers and team members should be assured they can continue to safely shop and work at our QV supermarket.

"Any customers who shopped in our QV store on Wednesday 7 October and feel unwell in the next two weeks should make contact with DHHS."

Infected customers also shopped at Woolworths Malvern on October 6 and Woolworths Miller's Junction in Altona North on October 6 and 8.

The stores were also deep cleaned, but the risk to staff and customers was deemed "low".
