A man has been taken to hospital following a daylight stabbing outside Melbourne Central shopping centre in the city’s CBD.
Paramedics were called to the shopping centre just after 1.30pm after the man was stabbed with a box-cutter by another man, police have been told.
The men were known to one another.
"They were shoving and pushing and some guy said 'you're a dog' and pulled out a knife," witness Shaun Fennell said.
The 28-year-old victim from Doncaster was taken to the Alfred Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
9NEWS understands the alleged offender was arrested in another area of the CBD.
