Mobile speed camera fines drop 88 per cent in NSW after warning signs return
Fines from mobile speed cameras across New South Wales have plummeted after warning signs were reintroduced.
The previous state government removed the roadside signs in 2020.
Fines immediately surged, and critics claimed it was purely about revenue-raising.

But the current government put the signs back in April.
Two signs are now placed before and one after every mobile speed camera vehicle.
And the latest data indicates the number of fines has dropped significantly.
In the past two months, about 6650 penalty notices were handed out for mobile speed cameras across the state.

In the same time last year, that number topped 55,000.
It's a staggering drop of 88 per cent.
In May and June last year, one in every 311 vehicles passing a mobile speed camera was hit with a fine.
This year, it was just one in every 1663.
