Spedding tries to stop NSW child sex trial
William Spedding has been questioned numerous times over the disappearance of NSW boy William Tyrrell.
A man linked to the disappearance of a NSW toddler will make a bid to stop his trial over unrelated child sex offences.
William Harrie Spedding, 65, is due to face trial in NSW in January over the alleged abuse of two girls in the 1980s.
However, it's been revealed in a Victorian court that Spedding is applying for a permanent stay on those matters.
Victorian police have charged Spedding with historical child sex offences but he was excused from appearing in person at his Ballarat Magistrates Court listing on Thursday.
During the Ballarat filing hearing, his lawyer Peter O'Brien flagged the Campbelltown matters would be subject to a stay hearing on September 7 and 8.
The court was also told Spedding had been linked to the police investigation into the disappearance of a toddler in the Port Macquarie area.
