Bronwyn Bishop has questions to answer over trip: Labor

Labor says Speaker Bronwyn Bishop's repayment of more than $5000 for a helicopter charter is not the end of the matter.

Mrs Bishop bowed to pressure on Thursday and decided to reimburse the $5227.27 she claimed for a November flight from Melbourne to the Clifton Springs Golf Club.

The flight of about 100 kilometres was made to attend a Liberal Party fundraiser in the first week of the Victorian state election campaign.

She also agreed to pay the 25 per cent loading applicable under new rules relating to amendments to erroneous travel claim declarations.

However, she stood by her position that the travel was within the rules.

Labor frontbencher Tony Burke said no one could make an honest mistake to accidentally turn up to a fundraiser in a helicopter.

"The repayment on this one doesn't end it," he said.

"It was either within the rules or a serious offence has been committed."

He called for the Speaker to provide a copy of the form she signed, which confirmed the trip was for official business.

Liberal frontbencher Christopher Pyne said the Speaker was doing a "superb job" and had his full support.
