Speaker Bronwyn Bishop has been asked to investigate whether a Labor MP's tweet amounts to a contempt of parliament.
Jim Chalmers was suspended for 24 hours on Thursday after calling Prime Minister Tony Abbott a pathological liar.
After exiting the House of Representatives chamber the Queensland MP repeated the remark in a tweet.

"Time and time again Tony Abbott has proven to be a #pathologicalliar - Triggs, pensions, SBS, health, ed the list goes on and on," he said.
Leader of the House Christopher Pyne asked the Speaker to investigate whether the MP's use of social media was a contempt of the parliament.
Ms Bishop said she would report back to MPs on Monday.
