Severe storm warning cancelled for parts of South East Queensland

A severe thunderstorm warning has been called for people in parts of the Somerset, Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley regions with damaging winds and large hailstones likely.

The Bureau of Meteorology said the treat of severe storms has now passed.

"Severe thunderstorms are no longer affecting the Southeast Queensland area (east of Dalby from Rainbow Beach to Stanthorpe)," it said in a statement.

Golfball size hail and a 113km/h wind gust was reported at Oakey around 5pm, while winds of up to 83km/h was reported at Wellcamp Airport at 4.40pm.

Hail up to 2cm hail and winds up to 100km/h were reported south of Rathdowney 6.10pm, with Macleans Bridge, near Jimboomba had 33mm of rain in just 15 minutes.
