Two new COVID cases in South Australia including one who travelled through NSW and Victoria

Two new positive COVID-19 cases have been recorded in South Australia, one of whom travelled through New South Wales before driving from Victoria into the state.

The man in his 20s flew from Darwin to Sydney before catching a regional flight to Wodonga and driving to a town on the Yorke Peninsula.

The second case is a man in his 70s who few into South Australia from Doha and tested positive on his day five test.

SA Chief Health Officer Professor Nicole Spurrier said the first case of the man in his 20s was under investigation and likely to be an old infection.

He arrived in SA on December 21 and is quarantining at a medi-hotel with his family, as is the man in his 70s.

He was tested on December 22 and returned a weak positive result which is being investigated.

Professor Spurrier said the possible case was not linked to the Northern Beaches cluster in Sydney and the man only passed through Sydney Airport.

The man is no longer considered infectious and the Professor Spurrier said she does not believe anybody is at risk.

South Australia now has five active cases in total.
