Adelaide mum's horror at violent break-in while kids were home alone

An Adelaide woman has told of her horror after an intruder broke into her home while her two children were alone inside.

"Me and my husband had gone out early to do something with one to return back," mum Alex told 9News.

Alex's two children, aged 14 and 11, were inside sleeping when the man smashed his way in through the back door at around 9am, with the commotion waking her son.

While on the phone to her frightened son she called police who were on scene within minutes but it was a phone call to the home phone, which is understood to have spooked the intruder.

"He could take whatever he wants, I don't care about that, My concerns were my two children," Alex said.

Two months on and police are still hunting the suspect, who was captured on CCTV fleeing the scene and sprinting down a suburban street.

The security vision also shows the suspect walking down President Avenue in Andrews Farm before the attack and before he fled on foot.

Alex is making a plea for anyone with information to come forward to police, worried he could strike again.

"Fine nothing happened but what happens if he, next time, does it again and he's got a weapon, you know, and it turns out deadly, you don't want that."
